Groundspeed Announces Executive Leadership Appointments

ANN ARBOR, MI, May 31, 2018 – Groundspeed Analytics, Inc. (Groundspeed), the technology firm that unlocks value from unstructured insurance files, announced several executive leadership appointments. These key hires will fulfill the strategic direction of CEO Jeff Mason to:

  • Empower brokers and carriers by decoding loss runs, policy files, and submissions
  • Automate processes to improve underwriting performance and help identify underwriting profits

“Our Adaptive Data Pipeline has become the industry’s preferred mechanism for converting difficult PDF, image files and Excel spreadsheets into highly usable information. We are growing rapidly and ready for the next stage of evolution. These hires are critical to accelerating our success,” Mason stated.

Groundspeed executive leadership appointments, include:

Tom Wimberly – appointed as Chief Sales Officer. Wimberly will head global sales and marketing initiatives with focus on client acquisition and company growth.

Wimberly is a top insurtech salesperson and executive leader who previously served as Chief Innovation Officer at Ventiv Technology, where he oversaw global product management and sales for North America. “Wimberly has the talent within insurtech to profoundly propel sales and marketing efforts,” said Mason.

Naim Falandino – promoted to Chief Technology Officer. Falandino will lead machine learning and big data analytics teams, driving insight and improving performance.

Falandino, a data scientist and engineer, has vast experience building analytical pipelines and data-driven solutions. Before Groundspeed, he was Director of Research and Development at Nokia. As Groundspeed’s CTO, he will bring his mix of technology and organizational leadership.

Jeremy McMinis, PhD – hired as Director of Data Engineering. McMinis will guide strategy, accelerate Groundspeed’s machine learning platform, and scale their data engineering division.

McMinis has repeatedly delivered robust enterprise solutions for data-intensive problems at top early stage startups. His position as Director of Data Science and Data Engineering at Narvar, for example, provides McMinis with valuable insight and technical leadership to offer Groundspeed.
